Meredith Bacal

Meredith Bacal

Associate

Meredith is an associate and trademark agent at Kenneth Back LLP. Her practice focuses on media, entertainment, and technology litigation. She also co-chairs the firm’s trademark prosecution group.

Meredith’s clients laud her for her efficiency, responsiveness, and practical approach to problem solving.

Meredith was lead counsel on one of the highest moral rights awards in Canadian copyright jurisprudence (Lorenz v Northland Art et al) and was second chair for the successful party in Wiseau Studio et al v Harper, which lifted the plaintiffs’ ex parte injunction and provided guidance on fair dealing for documentary film makers.

While she loves the Mad Men-inspired renovation of the firm’s office, Meredith is often away from her desk living the litigator’s life: wheelie bag in hand en route to conduct an out of court examination or argue a motion. Meredith has extensive arbitration experience and has appeared before the Superior Court, Federal Court, and Divisional Court.

On the weekend, you can find Meredith eating a sandwich at St. Lawrence Market or at a yoga studio meditating on her next dark beer.
